The short version

  • Kinolap lets you make recap videos of your own activities, on your own phone.
  • Your videos are yours. Share them responsibly: they can show where you run or ride.
  • Use the built-in music only inside videos made with Kinolap.
  • The app is provided as it is, in an early version, and features may change.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Kinolap (“Kinolap”, “we”, “us”), the operator of the Kinolap app for iPhone and Android and the website kinolap.app (together, the “service”). By installing or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be excluded by contract.

2. The service

Kinolap turns an activity, such as a run or ride, into a short vertical video with an animated route, statistics, Widgets, text, your photos and music. The video is created and encoded on your device. You can use your own activities by connecting a Strava account, or try the built-in demo activity without an account.

Kinolap is in an early stage. Some features are marked “Soon” in the app and are not available yet.

3. Who can use Kinolap

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough in your country to agree to these Terms and to the processing described in the Privacy Policy yourself (for example 16 in some EU countries). If you use a Strava account, you must also meet Strava’s requirements.

4. Strava and other services

  • Kinolap is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Strava. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc.
  • When you connect Strava, your use of Strava remains subject to Strava’s own terms and privacy policy. You authorise Kinolap to read your Strava profile and activities so that you can make videos of them.
  • You may only use Kinolap with your own Strava account and your own activities.
  • Access to Strava depends on Strava. Strava limits how many requests apps may make and how many people may connect, and it can change or end that access. When that happens, parts of Kinolap may stop working for a while or for good.
  • You can disconnect at any time in the app’s Settings or from your Strava settings.
  • When you share a video to another service (for example Instagram, TikTok or YouTube), that service’s terms apply to what you post.

5. Your videos and content

  • You own your videos and the photos and text you add. Because everything is made on your device, we don’t receive your videos and we need no licence to them.
  • You are responsible for what you add and share. Only use photos and text you have the right to use, and don’t make content that is unlawful, infringes someone else’s rights, or harasses or harms others.
  • Think before you share. A recap can show your route, including where you start and finish, even inside your Strava privacy zones. Check each video before you post it.
  • Kinolap may add a small “Kinolap” watermark to videos. Please don’t remove or hide it except with the option the app provides.

6. Music

The music in Kinolap’s built-in library is licensed to Kinolap by third parties or was made for Kinolap. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable permission to use it as described below, for as long as we hold the rights needed to offer it. Where a track comes with its own conditions or credit, the app shows them with the track, and they apply too.

  • You may use a track only as part of a video made with Kinolap, and share that video on social media for personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • You may not extract, download, record or redistribute the music on its own, use it in other videos or projects, or use it for commercial purposes such as advertising or sponsored posts.
  • Platforms may detect music automatically (for example with YouTube’s Content ID) and may mute, limit, label or claim a video. We don’t control those systems, but if a video you made with Kinolap receives a claim, contact us and we will help where we can, for example with information about the track’s licence.
  • We may add or remove tracks at any time, for example when a licence ends.

7. Using the app fairly

Please don’t:

  • use the service in breach of any law or of Strava’s terms;
  • use another person’s account, tokens or activity data;
  • call our servers or Strava’s API through Kinolap outside the app, overload them, or try to get around rate limits or security measures;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • use Kinolap, its music or the data it shows to build a competing product or to train AI models.

8. Our app and brand

Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. The app, its design, templates, Widgets, code and the Kinolap name and logo belong to us or our licensors. These Terms don’t give you any right to use the Kinolap name or logo.

Kinolap is free to use today. Some features are marked “Pro” in the app as a preview; they are not charged for now. If we offer paid features in the future, purchases in the app will be handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms, including billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds. The price and what you get will be shown in the app before you buy, and we will update these Terms before paid features launch.

10. Map data, fonts and open source

Kinolap uses open data, fonts and open-source software under their own licences. Required notices and credits (for example “© OpenStreetMap contributors”) are listed in the app under Settings › Credits and must be kept where they appear in your videos.

11. Availability and changes

We work to keep Kinolap running well, but we don’t promise that the service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features, and we may suspend or end the service, with reasonable notice where we can give it.

12. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Kinolap is a video tool, not a training, medical or navigation device. Statistics in a recap are calculated from your activity data and smoothed for display, so they may differ slightly from what Strava or your device shows. Don’t rely on them for health or safety decisions.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50. These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using Kinolap at any time: disconnect Strava and delete the app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we must do so by law. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 5, 6, 12, 13 and 15) continue after your use ends.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. Disputes relating to these Terms or the service will be handled by the competent courts of Vietnam. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may also bring proceedings there. Please contact us first; most issues can be solved by email.

16. App Store and Google Play

If you downloaded Kinolap from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims relating to the app (including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims). If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

If you downloaded Kinolap from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply, and Google is not responsible for the app or its content.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when laws change. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Kinolap after that, the new Terms apply.
